Tree of Wife

this is a li'l piece i did for a very thoughtful wife on the occasion of her one-year anniversary with her husband. she wanted her wedding vows to be framed -- but not be too showy, like "hey, random dinner guests, here is my heart and soul!" so we decided upon a tree.

the vows begin on the left side, at the roots, as the words are pulled like nutrients up into the tree, then continue throughout, curling around, sprouting off, until they drop, as leaves do, off the tree completely, back into the soil, decompose, and eventually become part of the tree once more.

speaking of weddings and vows and happy people, congratulations to my friends fiona and sam, who are getting married this weekend. e and i will be in attendance, and i'm thrilled to be doing some on-site calligraphy to boot!
